The ingredients needed to make Kale Okonomiyaki:
  1. Prepare Kale Leaves *thinly sliced
  2. Get *Note: Add as much as you like if you can combine with the batter
  3. Take Carrot *shredded or sliced to thin strips
  4. Make ready Plain Flour OR Self-Raising Flour
  5. Take Water
  6. Get Eggs
  7. Get Salt
  8. Take Dashi Power *optional
  9. Prepare Thinly Sliced Pork Belly
  10. Get Topping
  11. Make ready Okonomiyaki Sauce
  12. Take Japanese Mayonnaise
  13. Make ready Katsuobushi *optional
  14. Get Aonori *optional
  15. Prepare Benishoga (red pickled ginger) *optional
Steps to make Kale Okonomiyaki:
  1. Make the batter by mixing the Flour, Water, Eggs, Salt and Dashi Powder.
  2. Add thinly sliced Kale leaves and Carrot to the batter and mix it well.
  3. Oil a barbecue hotplate or a frying pan and cook pork on both sides.
  4. Pour the Kale batter mixture over the pork pieces to form a pancake. When the edge of the pancake has set, flip it over and heat for another 2-3 minutes, or until the batter has cooked through. You may turn the pancakes over a few times while cooking.
  5. Place the pancake on a plate with the pork on the top. Dress with Okonomiyaki Sauce and Japanese Mayonnaise, and sprinkle with Katsuobushi and Aonori. Benishooga (pickled ginger) also goes well with Okonomiyaki.
